The main theme for my thesis is going to be overcoming anxiety.
Mental health is something I'm incredibly passionate about. I've seen many loved ones suffer from depression and anxiety and I want to do all I can to create more acceptance for those suffering to talk about it. I want to get rid of the stigma that you are broken or can't function because you have a mental health issue. Many of the smartest, strongest, and most loving people I know have dealt with depression or anxiety at one point or another.
I want my character to be heroic not because she is never afraid, but because she is afraid but faces these fears for the hope of a better future. Because of her anxiety, she has to build up even more courage in order to conquer it.
For this new set of thumbnails in particular, I drew inspiration from The Great Gatsby and the video game Journey. In The Great Gatsby, one reoccurring symbol is the green light across the water at the end of the dock. This light represents Gatsby's hopes and dreams; he reaches toward it in the darkness as a guiding light to lead him to his goal.
"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter — tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther . . . . And one fine morning — So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."
